If your partner has just announced an unplanned pregnancy, you are probably experiencing a whirlwind of emotions. Feelings of fear, anger, and confusion are most likely running through your brain. We have a few suggestions at the Pregnancy Resource Center to help you handle the situation.

Men have emotions too

Right now, you may be asking yourself questions like:

  • “Is she really pregnant?”
  • “Am I really the father?”
  • “Do I have to pay something?”
  • “How could this have possibly happened?”

We are here to answer some of your questions. Not only do we care about her, but we’re also concerned about you. Take time to talk with one of our male team members. He will be able to help you sort out the facts from your emotions. You will have the confidence you need to take your next step forward.

First steps

Get the biggest question out of the way first. Is she really pregnant? Come to the Pregnancy Resource Center for 100% free and confidential pregnancy testing. Our tests are medical-grade quality and over 99% accurate. We will walk her through the instructions and help her understand the process.

The test was positive. Now what?

Ultimately, the decision is up to your partner as to what to do next. She will make the final choice, but no one should have to make this decision alone. She needs to hear what you want too. Communication is so important right now. Even if the relationship has ended, this is a major life-changing decision for both of you.

Talk with people you trust, take their advice but don’t let anyone decide for you. You will be the one to live with the consequences. Be honest with yourself and her. We will be happy to sit down with both of you and talk about all of your options. Yes, you do have options.
